    Summit
A Mario Kart piece I did that will be in Hero Complex Gallery’s “Righteous Rides” show, opening tomorrow! The limited edition print will be on sale after the opening night wraps up, I believe.
This piece was originally a project for the Game & Print Club, but we decided to change track and enter it in the coincidentally occurring appropriately themed, Hero Complex exhibit.UPDATE:You can now purchase the print online at Hero Complex Gallery.

New Facts & Arguments piece for the Globe and Mail! This essay told of how the author never had mittens or umbrellas as a child, as her mother had deemed them some sort of excessive luxury. When the children went out in the snow, they had to wear socks on their hands in place of gloves. Thanks of course to AD Matt French!

A couple commissions I completed last week! Messed around with some textures which I usually don’t put into my traditional work. Still too scared to actually put them on a figure, though.

    perletwo:

Commissions, I haz them! Stumbled across the tumblr of a lovely UK illustrator [Canadian, actually] named Jori Bolton and arranged for him to do a color illo of old-school New Teen Titans Raven. As a bonus thanks to a delay in completion he offered me a black and white sketch, and I asked for Golden Age Wonder Woman. Aren’t they pretty? So thrilled!

    Listen Closely to Your Opponent
Two dapper fellers for latest issue of California Real Estate, accompanying an article titled “Listen Closely to Your Opponent” which was a collection of negotiation tips for realtors. Suits are the best. Thanks to AD Nancy Duckworth for the assignment!

Here’s a piece from last week for the Globe and Mail. This essay was about a woman in the U.S. Foreign Service who reminisces about the Italian grocery store she grew up in as a child. Now she’s stationed in Ottawa, and visits an Italian grocer in the ByWard Market to reconnect with her childhood.

I received an e-mail from the author after the story was published, which was a very nice surprise! I rarely get the chance to make a connection with the authors of the pieces I illustrate.

    Below is the non-camera-processed illustration.

It’s Kagan McLeod! Good content on interacting with art directors, what it’s like to have an agent, and the story of his first job in which he skipped out on that whole sketches and approval portion of the assignment.

Note - I make a comment on the legal connotations of working without a contract, which I’m completely unqualified to do, so don’t quote me on that.
